Say What?

Ok, so Braeden has had some issues on getting up to speed with the rest of the kids his age in his speech. I try not to compare him, but at the same time he's getting to an age where developmental milestones aren't something you are to overcome every month. He is getting to a point where it's about every 6 months. So we knew that with him about to be turning 3 next month, the Dr., for his well check-up, would probably ask if we'd been working on it or if we'd checked with a speech pathologist. So we went ahead and booked him an appointment. The Speech Pathologist was very nice. We sat behind a one-sided mirror to watch as he played with her. He almost made me cry at one point because he asked for something and said "pease" without being urged to do so! So after the observation period was over, she asked us to come in and we discussed his comprehension level. Once all of the questions were answered she reassured us that he was not abnormal. She said that he was about 3 to 6 months behind schedule, but nothing to be alarmed about. So in the end, we just need to keep working with him and when he has a hard time pronouncing something, pat him on the back for each syllabal to let him feel the break down of the word.

So in short, all of you mothers who feel like you need to take it upon yourselves to make a comment about my son's speech, go bite a big one!
